Praised for a “big voice that sounds like the real thing” (Opera Now), soprano Erin O’Rourke is a New York City native and a graduate of The Juilliard School. She has appeared with Juilliard Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Verbier Festival, Glyndebourne Opera, and Royal Academy Opera, Rylanmor Opera, and New Amsterdam Opera. An avid recitalist, she has performed at Wigmore Hall and Alice Tully Hall. Engagements for 2025–2026 include Musetta in La bohème with Opera Vermont and the Opera Studio at Den Norske Opera & Ballet. She is a recipient of the Richard Tucker/Jean L. Lewis Award, the Toulmin Scholar Award and a prizewinner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
Ms. O’Rourke is recent alumna from the renowned Royal Academy Opera. Her roles included Lady Billows (Albert Herring), Dalinda (Ariodante), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Erste Dame (Die Zauerflöte) and Armande (Twice Alexander).
In 2023, Ms. O'Rourke was named a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where she covered the title role of Floyd's Susannah in Patricia Racette's production.
Equally devoted to art song and concert work, Ms. O’Rourke has performed extensive recitals at The Juilliard School, Verbier Festival, and across the London stages. Most recently, she made her solo Wigmore Hall debut as well as her Mahler 4 debut with esteemed conductor Finnegan Downie Dear. She has performed curated Liederabende at Alice Tully Hall and The Juilliard School featuring the music of Madeleine Dring and Lili Boulanger; representing women composers on these renowned stages. She has also appeared in Juilliard’s Focus Festival under Dr. Joel Sachs, which The New York Times praised as “Broadway meets avant-garde.” She made her Lincoln Center debut in the C.P.E. Bach Festival at the Bruno Walter Theater. During her time at the Verbier Festival, she joined the Atelier Lyrique where she gave recitals with distinguished pianist James Baillieu.
She is the 2024 winner of the Richard Tucker/Jean L. Lewis Award and a prizewinner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, receiving First Place in the New York District and Second Place at the Eastern Regionals.
Currently, Ms. O’Rourke is with Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
